Diving, Sailing, Fishing and Climbing Information
With
the Hotel having its own private pier, it really is a huge
attraction for divers. There is a well known reef close to the pier which is a favrourite spot for visiting divers staying locally in Lochaber or Glencoe. We often have divers using the Pier
and the ample car parking for a dive. Although we do not charge
divers for using the pier we used to ask visiting divers to
bring us something back from the murky deep! We ended up with
such a collection of bottles and other nik naks we now do
not ask.
Although neither Annette or Paul partake in the sport, numerous
visiting divers talk enthusiastically about the diving.
Sailing
The area is extremely popular for sailing and we often have
cruising yachts stop off at the Hotel, for dinner or just
"refreshments". We have visitors moorings
which are free for diners in the bar or restaurant. Refreshing warm showers and use of the swimming pool and sauna are also available. Can you think of anything nicer than coming off a yacht after a few days hard sailing to warm swim, sauna and then a slap up meal in the restaurant? We should
always have space for visitors but if you want to give us
a call to confirm please do so.
Lochaber Watersports offer yacht charter and are based in Ballachulish.
Fishing
There is fishing allowed in on the pier at the Hotel as well as along the shoreline. The wide species available and abundance of sea life make the area a haven for sea water fishing. Locally there is also fresh water loch fishing available at Glencoe Lochan and various other lochs. Fishing trips and equipment can be organized by the Hotel.
Climbing
With Lochaber being the outdoor capital of the Uk there is climbing in abundance in the local area. A good place to start is at the Internationaly renowned Ice Factor in Kinlochleven. This is an indoor climbing centre boasting the largest indoor ice wall in the World. Well worth a visit.
